Living in a Laneway

So last weekend was pretty amazing music wise. I won tickets to see Wild Beasts and Dappled Cities at the Northern in Byron the night before Laneway Festival in Brisbane, did somebody say ROADTRIP! Amazing gig, very intimate given the size of the crowd and a great performance given by a sickness stricken four piece Dappled Cities. The Wild Beasts sounded perfect live too.

Laneway delivered as always, I've officially fallen in love with The xx. I've never bee in such a mellowed out mosh before, and the fact that the lead singer never blinked once mesmerized me. I'm going to have that mans children. Needless to say Florence and the Machine were mind blowing - she literally gave me goosebumps the entire time. I may be having The xx's babies but I'm marrying Florence. That woman has got lungs!

As usual I went dressed a little different to my normal self, this year I looked like the semi-retarded love child of Clark Kent. It enabled me to be there and not get leered at by sleazy guys, instead I got WTF looks from everybody. It was great!

The venue was expanded this year too, creating more room for us little children of the indie corn to dance and generally have a good time. I caught a little bit of Daniel Johnston after rocking out to the Philly Jays. The man reminded me of my grandfather, I didn't like his singing but I did want to give him a hug and tell him I'll visit him soon and give my love to Nan.

All in all a most enjoyable weekend!
