Okay so I went to Ipswich yesterday (that's not the incredibly lovely part...sorry Ipswich) and I had my usual monthly meeting for
Cellophane Friends. This also included a trip to Mount Ommaney Shopping Centre (I have NO idea where that is)
We brought my friends little brother along, because you know, leaving him at home wouldn't have been nice....or legal. Anyway, in the car on the way there he goes "What do I get for being good at the shops?"
I understand the whole concept of having to bribe kids nowadays so they just don't go mental from all the bright lights and excitement of Mount Ommaney Shopping Centre. I also give the kid kudos for planning ahead and planting the idea in our heads before we arrived. Smart little monkey!
His promised reward was a hug.
"That's the stupidest thing I've ever heard of" he says.
Stifling laughter I take the cue to jump in and back up my friend. I told him that hugs are pretty awesome, and that he's lucky because I never get hugs.
I live alone and it's not as if I'm going to hug the only people I see every single day, because let's face it...they're accountants.
Anyway, he seemed pretty brought around by the idea of hugs being awesome and the car went quiet.
As we parked and I made my way out of the car, he leans across from his side and grabs my arm and squeezes. He mumbles "That's because you said you never get any hugs"
I could have died. From happiness.
Pretty incredible huh?
